Easter is approaching — and with it comes a dangerous cocktail of chocolate-fuelled kids, over-stimulated parents, and more time off school than anyone knows what to do with. As a once ADHD child myself, I vividly remember one Easter egg hunt where I accidentally disrupted a live wasps nest. Let’s just say… it wasn’t exactly a good BUZZ- and I wasn’t invited over to the persons house the following year.

So listen.. if you’re looking to avoid chaos (and potential insect attacks), here are five of the best child-friendly Easter activities around the country to keep the little ones busy.

Starting off in Dublin, Airfield Estate in Dundrum is hosting a cracking Easter event with egg and spoon races, egg science experiments, and their famous urban farm — perfect for kids who’ve only seen a cow on a milk carton.

Next up, Newgrange Farm in Meath is running their Easter Weekend Festival with egg hunts, animal visits and a duck-hooking game that’ll have the young ones entertained for hours.

Heading west, Brigit’s Garden in Galway has one of the most charming Easter Egg Hunts around, alongside face painting and arts and crafts for the creative types.

Down in Wexford, Secret Valley Wildlife Park are going full Wally Wonka this year, transforming the park with chocolate-themed trails and sweet surprises (sure to send them fully hyper).

Finally, Castlecomer Discovery Park in Kilkenny has a woodland egg hunt and enough fairground rides to keep even the most energetic kids out of your hair.

Whether it’s farm animals, chocolate trails or just burning off the sugar rush — there’s plenty to keep the madness at bay (for an hour or two anyway).
