Ireland Crowned Best Destination in Europe For the 12th Time

Ireland has once again been named Best Destination in Europe at the Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards in New York, making it 12 wins on the bounce. The awards are run by Travel Weekly, one of the most influential travel trade publications in the United States, with the honour accepted by Tourism Ireland.


The push stateside was led by Tourism Ireland North America, with Alison Metcalfe, Head of North America, representing Ireland on the night. Fair play where it is due.


We beat France, Spain and Italy once again, confirming what your great auntie from Portland, Oregon, would love to remind you of: that Ireland is, in fact, the best place that ever existed, and her family created soda bread and Halloween.


The US remains one of Ireland’s strongest tourism markets, built on deep cultural ties, serious travel numbers and a shared belief that everyone here knows your cousin.
