Talbot Street could be heading for a major shake-up after the former Gerry Keane Wallpapers — the last wallpaper shop in Dublin city centre — was sold for around €2 million. The long-running family business closed earlier this year after 53 years, and publican Noel Tynan has snapped up the site with plans to turn it into an American-themed bar.
It’s all part of his push to create a kind of “mini Temple Bar” on the street. Tynan already owns The Celt and Electric Circus across the road, giving him a solid base in the area. There’s no confirmed refurb for those pubs yet, but the new venue is expected to move forward once a planning application is lodged in 2026.
If it all goes ahead, Talbot Street could see a serious boost in footfall — and hopefully it’ll be a mini Temple Bar in both popularity and price. Then we’ll all be happy.
