Massive Changes to Dublin Bus Routes Start Today

Dublin’s bus network is getting a proper shake-up — and if you’re the type who still calls routes by what your nanny used to get to town, brace yourself. From today (October 20th), ten long-standing routes are being sent to the great depot in the sky — say goodbye to the 9, 26, 40, 40B, 49, 54A, 83, 83A, 123, and 140.
In their place, nine new routes are rolling out under the BusConnects redesign — including the F1, F2, and F3, which sound more like computer shortcuts than buses, plus newcomers like the 23, 24, 73, 80, 82, and L89.
The plan is to make commutes faster, cut down waiting times, and finally connect Lucan, Liffey Valley, Palmerstown and the city centre without three changes and a prayer.
Transport for Ireland says it’s all part of Dublin’s ongoing transport overhaul — phase by phase, glitch by glitch. So double-check your route before heading out… or risk having a meltdown on the side of the road after going the opposite way.
