City centre rooms are going for €400 a night — and that’s for the no-frills, no-breakfast setups. One five-star hotel has fully lost the plot, charging over €1,800 for a queen room. The same bed is €700 this weekend, so that’s €1,100 for the privilege of having your dreams taxed.
The Irish Hotels Federation says it’s all “supply and demand” — basically, your own fault for not booking during the Ice Age. If you’re lucky enough to find a room outside the city — in Swords, Tallaght or anywhere with a postcode and hope — you’ll still be down €250, plus whatever you blow on taxis.
Booking platforms like Booking.com are 85% booked already. The IHF says go direct for better prices, but that’s hit and miss. Some are cheaper, some aren’t — classic.
If you’re still looking for a bed, get moving — or prepare for a pricey kip in your car. Dublin’s hotels are making the most of the reunion, and their prices are running up “faster than a cannonball.
