Say Goodbye to the 100ml Clear Bag Nightmare!!

There was a time when going to Dublin Airport meant blocking off half the day – back when you had to physically check in at the desk, clutching a piece of paper the size of those oversized cheques they hand out at NBA games. You’d be queued behind ten Irish mammies armed with ham sandwiches and industrial-strength flasks of Barry’s tea. The only thing quicker than you was the fella legging it to Gate 104 after they called final boarding during his muffin.
Now, things are (sort of) speeding up. EU regulators are about to approve a change that would let passengers keep liquids and laptops in their bags when going through security – but only if you’re in a terminal that has the new high-tech scanners. Terminal 2 has them already, and Terminal 1 is getting there, with full rollout expected by October 2025.
“Quick as a flash” might be a bit of an overstatement, but at least you won’t have to play Bop It! with your toiletries and tech every time you reach security. No more unpacking your entire life just to show a half-used tube of Colgate and a tangled laptop charger.
With 10 million people expected through Dublin Airport this summer alone, and 36 million across the year, this could mark the end of the era where flying felt like running the Crystal Maze with a school bag.
