Summer in Ireland is a sacred time. You may see someone’s mam ironing in the front garden, lads in full festival mode at 2pm on a Tuesday, and Bluetooth speakers so big they need their own passport (and are often transported on a workman’s dolly cart).

It’s like Magaluf 2015—but with more rain and less regrets. And when the sun actually shows up? There’s only one thing to do: find a deadly beer garden and get stuck in.

We’ve been all over the country (strictly for research purposes) and narrowed it down to our top five with an honourable mention. So six then …I nearly took the foundation maths paper for my Leaving Cert; numbers have never been my strong suit.

1. John M. Reidy’s – Killarney

Fairy lights, trad tunes, and a courtyard that feels like a warm fire after a winter hike. A gorgeous spot to wind down with a pint in hand and zero stress in your soul.

2. The Bloody Stream – Howth, Dublin

Massive beer garden, craft beers on tap, and seagulls more confident than your ex on holidays. Handy location right beside the DART if you need a swift escape.

3. An Púcán – Galway

Bright flowers, live music, food you’ll still be dreaming of the next day. If you’ve a pal who’s usually shy, this place will have them dancing to The Galway Girl like it’s a Eurovision final.

4. The Copper Still – Dromod, Leitrim

Hidden gem, no doubt about it. Unreal views, fresh seafood, and sunsets that make you want to post to the group chat—but you’re afraid of the slagging.

5. The Lifeboat Inn – Courtmacsherry, Cork

Pints by the sea, deadly food, and the kind of atmosphere that tricks you into thinking you’re abroad. A class spot to catch some sun without leaving the country.

6. The Two Sisters – Templeogue, Dublin

One of the best beer gardens in the city—just without the city centre madness. Great menu, a good buzz, and ideal if you fancy a few pints somewhere that still feels local.

And of course, always drink responsibly—the only pace you should drink at is your own… Finally don’t be kicking over street cones. You’re a grown adult.
