In Ireland, trends become full-blown personality traits. Doughnuts in 2015, queues for pizza in 2020 to present — now we’re all about sweating it out in saunas. And look, if you’re going to pick a trend to die on a hill for, this is a top tier choice.
We’ve travelled the length and width of the country and tried a rake of saunas, both on and off camera. Most were class — but the ones below? They’re stone cold belters. The Wrestlemania 17 of saunas. Here’s our top five:
1. Hotbox Sauna, Inchicore (Dublin)
Sauna city. Three different recovery pools, multiple sauna options and just an all-round top-tier experience. 55 minutes for €15.95.
2. Riverbank Sauna, Palmerstown (Dublin)
Right along the Liffey with a 10-person wood-fired sauna and a serious cold plunge. Relaxing, sound crowd, unreal setting. 45 mins for €15.
3. Helios Sauna, Rooftop of the Martello, Bray
Views for days over the Irish Sea and Bray Head. Bonus: there’s an infinity pool. €20 for 45 minutes.
4. Boatyard Sauna, Wicklow Harbour
Newly renovated, stylish, a stone’s throw from the sea. Gear is top of the range. €12 for 45 minutes.
5. The Sauna Snugg, Cork
Coolest vibes going. Friendly staff, great design, and cold water that’ll humble you. €15 for 45 minutes.
