From a culinary perspective, many might assume that Ireland dreams of walking in the footsteps of giants — chasing the shadows of Paris, Tokyo, or Rome. But the truth is, the steps are now our own. And the world has finally caught up.

Dublin has officially been crowned amongst the top five best foodie cities on the planet. Not in Europe. Not “underrated.” one of the best.

For years, we’ve been typecast as a boozy island where the food was as grey as our unpredictable winter skies. Americans still arrive with family trees in hand, informing the nearest bartender that their great-great-grandpappy once taught the town how to drink properly. Meanwhile, the rest of the world bundles us in with the Brits and assumes we still boil more Ingredients than the Wicked Witch of the West.

But those days are gone.

Ireland’s food scene has evolved — not quietly, but confidently. With world-class meat, fish, dairy, and produce, our ingredients don’t need disguises. There’s a reason we’re not known for sauces: our meat was palatable before fridges.

And now, thanks to a more diverse population and fearless chefs, we’re blending global influence with local identity to create something bold, modern, and unmistakably Irish.

Come for the Guinness. Stay for the flavour. We’ve stopped following — and started leading.
