Personally, as a football fan (Manchester United—thanks for your commiserations in advance), I don’t have the drive for rugby. My go-to line when talking about the game is always, “Ah, we could have had them in the breakdown.” To this day, I have no clue if that refers to a nervous breakdown, a car breakdown, or the breakdown of future investment plans. But somehow, after saying it, I blend in like a Heineken-filled chameleon. HOWEVER, I am a fan of free alcohol—and an even bigger fan of McGowan’s in Phibsborough.

For this year’s Six Nations, McGowan’s is making sure you celebrate every Ireland try in style—with free drinks. Yes, you read that right. Every time Ireland crosses the line, McGowan’s is pouring the pints.

How It Works

1. Book your spot in advance—this deal is too good to rock up last-minute.

2. First try = a free shot to get the party started.

3. Every try after that = a free pint (of your choice).

4. Limit: Two free drinks per half, max four per game.

Owner Daniel McGowan says, “This is our way of bringing fans together to celebrate Ireland’s success in style.” With 16 screens, three projectors, and top-tier food and drink, McGowan’s is easily one of the best rugby-watching spots in Dublin.

While booking in advance is recommended, some tables will be kept for walk-ins, so if you’re feeling spontaneous, you still have a chance to get in on the action.

Seats are limited, so book early via McGowan’s website or call (01) 8306606. Follow them on social media for updates and special match-day deals.
