Morriscastle Beach in Gorey is set for a major accessibility boost, with €38,052 in funding confirmed under the government’s Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme. The project, led by Wexford County Council, will see the creation of an accessible viewing stand along with 50 metres of beach matting to make the coastline easier to enjoy for everyone.

The upgrades will provide vital support for wheelchair users, families with buggies, and older visitors, ensuring more people can experience one of Wexford’s most popular beaches. It’s part of a wider investment in outdoor spaces across the county aimed at making recreation areas more inclusive and welcoming.

Local representatives have welcomed the funding, highlighting the impact it will have on both residents and the many visitors drawn to Wexford’s coastline each year. With these changes, Morriscastle will not only remain a summer favourite but also become a model for accessibility along Ireland’s shores.
